Product Overview

Pro JYM. The anabolic protein powder created and used by Dr. Jim Stoppani. High Quality Protein Blend for Maximal Muscle Growth.

"JYM Supplement Science combines real science with best-in-class ingredients and precise doses to deliver unreal results. Pro JYM is my exclusive protein blend designed to help you build muscle, recover faster, and train stronger. Whether you want to boost strength, add size, or get shredded, Pro JYM is for you. It's a powerful blend of proteins that add up to pure muscle fuel."

Grow Like a Pro

Each scoop of Pro JYM delivers 24 grams of pure, quality protein. It’s not "spiked" with single amino acids to artificially increase the protein content or made with cheap and inferior whey protein concentrate or caseinates. To make Pro JYM, I selected only the highest quality whey protein isolate, micellar casein, milk protein isolate, and egg white protein (egg albumin).

The 24 grams of protein in each scoop of Pro JYM contain the following:• Whey protein isolate: 7.5g

  • Whey protein isolate: 7.5g
  • Micellar casein: 7g
  • Egg albumin: 2.5g
  • Milk protein isolate: 7g (5.5g casein, 1.5g whey)

Since milk protein isolate is 20 percent whey protein and 80 percent micellar casein, the 24 grams of protein in Pro JYM are really broken down into three main categories:

Protein chart
A Blend is Best

While a high-quality protein powder should be at the top of everyone's supplement shopping list, don't make the common mistake of buying a pure whey protein powder right off the bat. Yes, whey protein is a critical staple for muscle growth, but to truly maximize growth, you need more than just whey. You need a precise blend of performance proteins.

Whey is a very fast-digesting protein. The rapid rate of digestion is one of whey's benefits, but on its own, this quality can actually be a downfall. Because whey digests so fast, it quickly boosts muscle protein synthesis (MPS). However, it only boosts MPS for a short amount of time.

Research now shows that when you add medium-digesting and slow-digesting proteins to whey, muscle protein synthesis remains elevated for longer than when using whey alone. Since muscle protein synthesis leads to muscle growth, elevating muscle protein synthesis for longer can have a significant impact on your overall gains.

In fact, research suggests that people who add slow-digesting casein protein to a whey protein shake around their workouts enjoy greater muscle growth over time than people taking whey alone. This research is the very reason I recommend taking a blend of fast-digesting whey protein, medium-digesting egg protein, and slow-digesting micellar casein.

Say No to Protein Spiking!

Many supplement manufacturers cut corners on their protein powders because high-quality protein is very expensive to make. They often use a dirty trick called “nitrogen spiking.” Nitrogen spiking, also called “amino spiking” or “protein spiking,” is a way to manipulate the test used to measure the protein content of protein powders.

The current method used to assess the amount of protein in a protein powder involves measuring the nitrogen content, which is then converted into protein amount. Nitrogen is used because protein is made of amino acids strung together in a chain, much like a pearl necklace, and every amino acid contains nitrogen. If manufacturers add loose amino acids to a powder, they can fool the test and deliver less pure protein than their labels claim.

Many people think that extra amino acids in their protein powder are beneficial. The major problem, however, is that certain amino acids are not added to make the protein powder more effective. Instead, they're simply added for their nitrogen. Most single amino acids, such as taurine and glycine, are much cheaper than whey protein, casein protein, milk protein, or egg protein. Even highly beneficial amino acids like BCAAs and glutamine are cheaper than protein powder. So, by adding a bunch of cheaper amino acids to their protein powders, supplement companies can boost their nitrogen content, which technically means they boost the amount of protein per serving, at least according to the nitrogen test.

Because the added amino acids are not complete proteins, the protein content of a spiked protein powder is not truly what a nitrogen test claims it is. For example, a whey protein powder may claim to contain 20 grams of protein per scoop. However, if the manufacturer added 5 grams of glycine per serving, then you are only getting 15 grams of actual whey protein and 5 grams of glycine, which would read as 20 grams of protein per serving.

An even bigger problem arises when proteins are spiked with amino acids that aren't used as building blocks to form proteins in the body. Taurine is once such amino acid. Taurine helps with energy production, so you might first be excited to see a high quantity of it in your protein. However, if 5 grams of taurine has been added to your protein powder that claims to contain 20 grams of protein per serving, you are only getting 15 grams of real protein and 5 grams of taurine. So the extra taurine comes at the expense of total protein.

If your favorite protein powder lists BCAAs, glutamine, beta-alanine, betaine (trimethylglycine), or creatine, you might think it’s a great product because of the additional nutrients. Yes, your protein contains these performance nutrients, but you may be getting them at the expense of the protein, not in addition to the protein. All those ingredients are nitrogen-containing compounds that count towards the total protein amount listed on the label. You might be getting up to 10 grams less protein per serving than listed on the label.

The rampant use of nitrogen spiking is the main reason why I list the precise amount of each protein in every 24 gram serving of Pro JYM. Whey protein isolate makes up 7.5 grams, micellar casein makes up 7 grams, and milk protein isolate makes up 7 grams, and the remaining 2.5 grams comes from egg white protein (egg albumen). That totals 24 grams from complete proteins with no added amino acids or filler nutrients.

The Power of Pro

As with every other supplement in the JYM line, I want you to know the exact ingredients and doses in Pro JYM. I want you to see that it contains nothing but a pure blend of high-quality proteins in the exact amounts needed to maximize growth, recovery, and repair. In short, I want you to grow like a pro.

I have been using the Pre Jym, Pro Jym and Post Jym on a stack now for a couple weeks and it has been wreaking havoc on my bowels. I am not sure if it is because it is “cleansing” me or if my body just doesn’t agree with it. I literally am having straight liquid come out of my a-hole about an hour or hour and a half after my workouts and am going to the toilet 4-5 times a day now. I am using it as directed. Mixing Pre Jym with water, letting it set for 15 minutes, drinking it over the course of 15 minutes and consuming it 30 minutes before my workouts. Pro Jym is mixed with non-fat milk and consumed 30 minutes after work out. Post Jym is mixed with water, let stand for 15 minutes and then consumed directly after my Pro Jym and within 40-45 minutes after my workout. No other supplement stack I have ever taken has done this to me. For now, it isn’t too bad because I can be close to a bathroom at all times, but that won’t always be the case. Additionally, the Pre Jym doesn’t seem like it gives me the energy for my pumps. I had been taking NeuroCore pre-workout and while it did give me the jitters and made me feel like I wanted to claw my face off sometimes, it worked amazing in the gym when pumping some weight. Pre Jym doesn’t feel like that and I feel like I am falling flat on my pumps. I think that once I have used up the product that I currently have of the Jym line, I won’t be ordering again. Probably a good product, and probably better for me as opposed to other stuff I have been using, but I like results and I want to feel good about what I am using. Right now, I just don’t feel good with Jym.

Very good protein. If you look at all the ingredients used in this you’re getting good quality products. I will continue to purchase this for as long as they keep up this standard. The only issue is sometimes they don’t mix as well as other products so you have to shake more than other proteins. Otherwise this is the best protein pound for pound!

Not sure what the negative criticism is about the rootbeer float flavor. It tastes great with water and milk, but the taste is not the reason for the purchase, clearly. Yet again another high quality Jym product that puts regular whey to shame with the blend of different digestive quality proteins Jym pro offers.

Bought this because of the BOGO free and thought the flavour was probably not so good, that's why it's on sale. I was surprised that it tastes just like A&W root beer floats I used to get as a kid. A pleasant surprise and I am reordering

Love the jym lime even with new changes will still keep using them in need nothing else can campare even close.

I bought this product because it was one of the few on the website that has a blend of protein that includes casein protein. It also had a 9.2 rating so I thought it was going to be good. Maybe the formula in the past might have been better, but the batch that I received has been awful so far. I'm giving it a 4 only because it has the ingredients that I want in it. I bought it as a BOGO so I also have the Chocolate Cookie Crunch, but have yet to try it. I ended up buying it along with the Cookies & Cream. So far the taste has been disgusting. It doesn't taste anything like cookies and cream. I'm glad I bought the 26 serving tub and I am trying to finish it as fast as I can. I have tried it both with milk and water and it doesn't taste good at all. I always look forward to the taste of my post-workout protein shakes, but this one I am not. I usually just sip my protein shakes throughout the half hour post workout. This one I down within 10 minutes. It clumps no matter how hard I shake it in my bottle. I've tried putting powder first and powder after the liquid and it still clumps. I've left it in the fridge as well post shaking and then shaking again prior to drinking it. It also leaves a chunk of powder on the lip of the lids of my shaker cups after shaking. I'm hoping it's just this batch or just this flavor that is terrible.

I took advantage of the buy 1 get 1 free deal, and I was not disappointed! It tastes exactly like a root beer float. So far I have not been let down by a pro jym flavor. Mixes instantly and tend tastes great.

I try to always buy when I see a good deal, and this was buy one get one. I was thinking it was a flavor nobody wanted and they wanted to sale it off. However, I don't think that's the case. It taste really good and I've a very picky eater, I don't like many foods, especially protein drinks. A bonus, this ones actually gives me a bit of energy. I only tried the one shaker bottles worth, but its the real thing as far as taste and mixability.

  • 4 Gingerbread Cookie - Limited Edition!

This product, like all Jym supplements, is highly overpriced. I only purchased due to the buy one get one deal and the flavor of Gingerbread Cookie sounded really good. Wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing as they were spot on. I never had the old Jym protein formula, but for a 9.2 rating it must have been much better than this. It does not mix well at all as there are powdery clumps each time. The flavor tastes nothing like Gingerbread Cookie either. At least it doesn't taste like it smells, but I will not be purchasing again.

  • 8 Natural White Chocolate Raspberry

I see people don't rate the Natural White Chocolate Raspberry very high. When making a direct comparison to the artificial sweetener varieties, I can see how that makes sense, but in my opinion it should be rated on its own scale. While it may not be quite as sweet as other flavors, it is pretty good if you want something without artificial sweeteners, I use it with milk, peanut butter powder and powderized/blended oat, honey, and almond cereal and it tastes great, not quite as good as the Vanilla JYM I used to use, but still pretty good. When I started using this flavor I would do half Natural W.C.R., and half Vanilla , then switched to 100% Natural W.C.R. after a couple tubs. I'm not sure how it goes with plain water but all protein is pretty gross with plain water IMO (possible exceptions being the candy versions Smores etc.. that I would not personally recommend)
